Narcotics officer busted over drugs

KYOTO (Kyodo) Kyoto Prefectural Police arrested a 32-year-old police officer Tuesday on suspicion of illegally possessing stimulants in violation of the Stimulants Control Law. He was dismissed later in the day.

Senior policeman Takashi Murayama, who handled investigations involving stimulants, allegedly had 0.009 gram of stimulants at his home in the town of Tanba, Kyoto Prefecture, Friday evening, police said.

Investigators who said that they acted on a tip that Murayama was using drugs, said they also found a piece of aluminum foil with traces of stimulants on it at his home.

Investigators said Murayama admitted to posessing the drug for his own use.

Police were questioning Murayama as to how he obtained the drug, suspecting it might have been confiscated during a drug bust.
